BNI Fencing Night
Engarde - BNI Fencing Tournament.
10 members of Belfast City participated in a corporate fencing night
run by Stormont
Fencing Club in the Queens Leisure Centre, Holywood. The evening
was organised by member Web
Designer David Cunningham who fences with the club. The format
for the evening involved a training session to acclimatise members
with the safety and ways of fencing. Some footwork followed by some
blade work was done with BNI participants each pairing off with
a club member for some 1-2-1 training.
The evening then progressed on to a competition. Fencing Foil and
using international rules a short tournament consisting of two poules
and a DE (Direct Elimination) was fought. The final eventually being
contested by Solicitor
Maggie Keown and Accountant
Bill Miscampbell. Bill came out as the eventual winner in a
closely fought contest.
Pictured are the eventual finalists Bill and Magi.

HBK
on the move
HBK
Architects, represented in Belfast City by business owner Stephen
Salley, have just completed their move to new promises in Lisburn
at the new Garvey Studio on Longstone Road.
At a recent meeting Stephen thanked the many
members from BNI that had helped him over the process of the move.
"Having so many companies able to help us in BNI took a lot
of the worry out of the move. I knew when someone said something
would be done that it would be and that left me, and the HBK team,
free to continue to focus on our client and current projects."
We all wish Stephen and the team at HBK best
wishes in their new premises and look forward to visiting them in
the weeks and months ahead.

Trevor Bradfield of Unity IT (Northern Ireland)
and Jerzy Rygier of Theso (Poland)
When
Jerzy Rygier from Poland was given a brief from his employers to
identify strategic partners in Northern Ireland, naturally as a
recent recruit to BNI, he turned to the organisation for assistance.
Jerzy works for Theso, an IT and internet software firm based
in Warsaw and had joined one of the new BNI chapters launched in
Poland in the Spring of 2006.
Using the find a chapter tool of the BNI web site, Jerzy contacted
Ryan Hay, Director of Belfast City BNI and arranged to visit the
chapter.
So on a cold frosty Thursday morning in Belfast, Jerzy arrived
at the venue for his first ever visit to an overseas chapter and
the first BNI member he met was Trevor Bradfield from Unity IT,
the type of business he originally set out to target!
Needless to say the two ‘IT techies’ soon got talking
and Trevor immediately set up a meeting with his company for later
on that day to explore the possibilities for linking up with each
other.
So a classic example of how BNI reaches beyond your own town,
city and even country.
Don’t be afraid to surf through the BNI web sites and you
never know what lies ahead!

Todd came to Northern Ireland to play for the Giants since there

posting to General Manager of the Giants is a dream come true.

Some go to any lengths to write down a referral !
Pictured is John Kelly (Paint Pots receiving a referral
from Scott Hay (Tradesman Inc) with Chapter Director Stephen Salley
(HBK Architects) pinpointing to the details.
Scott
was working on fellow member, David Cunningham (Truska Enterprises),
house roof when his mobile rang. As a result he needed somewhere
to write down the details of the referral so the quick thinking
tradesman used the wood he was fixing the roof with. Luckily it
did not rain that night!!!!

Guest Speaker - 17th May 2006
Ian White, Regional Director of BNI in Scotland, was recently
in Northern Ireland to deliver a referral workshop. At Belfast
City Chapter we had the pleasure of Ian's company the next morning
at our weekly meeting when he shared his wisdom with us during
the weekly 10 minute slot.
He certainly generated some thought provoking ideas on how we
can all get more business from out BNI colleagues and hopefully
members will now move forward and benefit from the ideas he shared
with us.
